Inspector General of Police Focuses on Strengthening Inter-Agency Relationships

In a bid to fortify cooperation among security forces, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun hosted the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and senior military officers at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The visit aimed to bolster the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and the military in securing the nation.

During the meeting, the Defence Chief acknowledged the dedication of the Police Mobile Force during joint operations and addressed the recent unfortunate incident at the Adamawa State Police Command. General Musa called for a reorientation of security personnel to foster a more harmonious working relationship and advocated for joint training sessions to build rapport among lower cadres of the Armed Forces and the Police.

IGP Egbetokun reciprocated the commitment to improved synergy, emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation into the Adamawa incident. He urged security agencies to avoid unnecessary rivalry and promoted joint training for enhanced cooperation.

Additionally, the IGP welcomed the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, and the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi. Discussions centered on gender sensitivity and inclusiveness, with a commitment to strengthened collaboration with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for effective policing in Nigeria.

IGP Egbetokun assured increased partnership in areas such as data collection, support for gender-sensitive cases, and combatting human trafficking. He expressed confidence that fostering a more harmonious relationship would lead to higher responsibility and improved security nationwide.
